The value of consumer M&A deals picked up strongly in the US since 2023, but the pattern of deals may be changing with companies seeking to expand their portfolio of brands. With the return of inflation post-pandemic and a squeeze of consumer spending power, the focus for M&A shifted to cost efficiency and consolidation.
