Block Trade

Definition:

The sale of a large block of existing shares executed by Selling Shareholders in the Secondary Market. Typically these transactions are launched, executed and priced on a fast-track basis, sometimes within a 24-hour period. Block Trades are often done by an Accelerated Bookbuild.
