Commitment Fee

Definition:

The fee that a lender charges a borrower, pursuant to the terms of a Credit Agreement, for money that will be borrowed in the future (undrawn amounts) on a specified date. In consideration for the fee, the lender commits to extending credit on that future date. It is designed to compensate the lender for the amount of capital it is required to hold by its financial regulator.
