CREST
Definition:
The settlement system for the United Kingdom, Channel Islands and Irish securities. CREST is owned and operated by Euroclear UK and is the Central Securities Depository (CSD) that settles the great majority of trades on the London Stock Exchange. CREST operates an electronic securities settlement system allowing securities to be traded without physical exchange of the certificates. This allows for potential tax advantages and the ability to settle many international securities. CREST is also referred to as Euroclear UK.
