Investment Company Act

Definition:

The US Investment Company Act of 1940, as amended, which applies to Investment Companies and regulates reporting requirements, securities pricing, and fund allocation. The Investment Company Act is broadly written and it is not uncommon for traditional companies operating through less-than-majority-owned associates to fall within the Investment Company Act’s definition of an Investment Company.
