Liability Management

Definition:

Liability Management refers to various methods for reducing outstanding debt or the potential for liability associated with it, including Tender Offers, Exchange Offers, Consent Solicitations and open market purchases.

Liability Management may be used to repay the debt cheaply when securities are trading significantly below face value, extend maturity, eliminate or modify covenants in bonds and/or lower a company’s debt-to-equity ratio.
