Safe Harbor

Definition:

A set of guidelines to provide certainty that an entity is exempt from particular requirements. Some examples include Rule 144 (a Safe Harbor from treatment as an underwriter) and Rule 506 (a Safe Harbor from registration under Section 4(a)(2) of the Securities Act).
