Stub Period

Definition:

An interim or non-standard financial period. This is the portion of the current Fiscal Year that has occurred or is reportable so far. Stub Period Financial Statement(s), commonly referred to as interim financial statements, are typically unaudited, but are often subject to a review by the company’s External Auditors.

This is a Comfort Letter concept and refers to the period following the date of the most recent financial statement up to a cut-off date, for which limited procedures apply.
