National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. (NASD)

Definition:

The former self-regulatory body for underwriters, brokers, and dealers that was responsible for operating NASDAQ and Over-the-Counter markets. In 2007, the NASD merged with the NYSE’s enforcement operation to create FINRA.
